January 15, 2010
Today, Ladbrokes announced the launch of their new Italian online poker site. Currently providing a selection of Texas Hold’em online poker tournaments, Ladbrokes plans to expand the Italian poker service in the weeks ahead to include more favorite poker games. Ladbrokes also intends to add cash games to their newly hatched poker service once Italy’s local gambling regulations are set to allow them.
This comes after Ladbrokes’ 2008 launch of its Italian sportsbook. Further expansions are planned on the Italian internet gambling market in coming months, as Ladbrokes intends to provide casino and bingo services to Italian customers. Presently serving over 35,000 registered users, Ladbrokes’ Italian gambling venture is expected to continue growing.
Predictions for the Italian gambling market indicate that it will be Europe’s biggest this year. It is expected that regulated, online poker will result in a €2.2 billion turnover, and that operators will gross €280 million for 2009. Cash games and c
asino gaming are soon to be allowed into the regulations, and the onshore, regulated gambling market is predicted to draw about €630 million in gross revenues in 2010, and continue climbing to almost €800 million by the year 2012.
