May 15, 2009
Annie Duke represented the poker world in the Celebrity Apprentice 2. The Apprentice appears on NBC. Usually on the Apprentice, contestants compete for a chance to work for Donald Trump for a year. The contestant that wins the show gets to lead a project for Donald Trump for a year with a salary of $250,000. The Celebrity Apprentice allows celebrities to compete until someone wins. The winner receives $250,000 to give to the charity of their choice.
The Celebrity Apprentice 2 premiered in January 2009. The show started with 16 celebrities who fought week after week to become the Apprentice. Each week Donald Trump fires someone until there is only one person standing. Annie Duke made it to the final show where she competing against Joan Rivers to be the Apprentice.
There was quiet a feud between Duke and Rivers from day 1. These women really don’t like each other which made the show all the more interesting. At one point in the series, Joan Rivers compared Annie Duke to Hitler.
The poker world should be proud to have such a trooper represent us. Annie Duke raised awareness about the charity Refugee’s International. She not only raised awareness about this charity, she also raised over $730,000 which was donated to this charity during Celebrity Apprentice this season.
Annie Duke is one of the best poker players in the world. I would say that she is one of the best female poker players, but that would not sum up her abilities. She has proved herself with the female players as with the male players in the poker world.
